Tags macbook Duo

Prerequisite: Successfully enrolled your university account in Duo Security.

Recommendation: Have the Duo Mobile app installed on your smartphone.

If you need help with enrollment and/or setting up the Duo Mobile app, please contact the ITR Help Desk:  help@lynchburg.edu or Online Help Ticket Form.

1.  Connect the MacBook to the Internet via a wired ethernet network connection while on campus.

2.  While logged into the MacBook, open the Self Service app.

3.  In the Self Service app, click Security in the left sidebar.

4.  Look for the icon for Duo Security and click the Install button on this icon; the install is complete when the Install button changes itself to say Reinstall.

5.  Log out of the Mac/user account.

6.  At the login prompt, enter your username & password. When the credentials are submitted, a Duo window should now be presented.

7.  On the Duo window, select how you would like to receive the two-factor notification: push, text message, or phone call. NOTE: We strongly recommend using the mobile app & push notifications.

8. Approve the login via the app or one of the two methods. Once the login has been approved, the setup screen for Offline Login is now presented.

9. If you have the Duo Mobile app installed (recommended), click Activate Now on the computer and open the app on your mobile device. If you do not have the app installed, select Enroll Later.

10. In the Duo mobile app, tap the Add (+) button and then Use QR Code.

11. Scan the QR code on the computer using the Duo mobile app. The default account name can be changed or left as-is.

12. On the computer, Click Enter Offline Code and then enter the code found in the Duo mobile app. Note, the code in the mobile app changes every 30 seconds, so if it changes before you enter it on the computer, please enter the newest one.

13. There should now be a green banner that says, “Enrollment complete.” On this banner, click Proceed.

The desktop environment should now be presented on the computer, which means... Victory!
