Setup Call Forwarding

Call Forwarding Guide: ShoreTel IP480G

Follow these steps to redirect incoming calls from your desk phone to your mobile device or another external number.

Configuration Steps

  1. Open Options Menu: Press the Options button located on the lower right of your phone’s keypad.

  2. Authenticate: Enter your Voicemail password followed by the # key.

  3. Access Availability Settings: On the Availability line, press the Edit softkey (located at the lower-left of the screen).

  4. Select a State: Use the navigation D-pad (arrow keys) to highlight the specific state you wish to configure (e.g., Out of Office or Custom).

  5. Enter State Edit Mode: Press the Edit softkey once the correct state is highlighted.

  6. Set Call Forwarding Logic: Scroll to the Forward Call option and ensure it is set to Always.

  7. Clear Existing Destination: Move down to the Always Dest: line and press the Clear softkey (lower-middle) to remove any previous numbers.

  8. Input Forwarding Number: Enter the outgoing prefix 3 followed by the full cell phone number (e.g., 35551234567).

  9. Save and Return: Press Back and then OK repeatedly until you are returned to the main home screen.

Activating the Forwarding

Setting up the destination does not automatically start forwarding. You must change your phone's active state:

  • Press the State softkey on the home screen.

  • Select the state you just configured (e.g., Out of Office).

  • The phone’s LED status light will typically turn Orange to indicate you are in a non-standard state and calls are being diverted.

Troubleshooting

  • No Dial Tone/Failed Call: Ensure you included the prefix 3 as required by your office system.

  • System Permissions: If calls do not successfully reach your cell phone, contact your IT administrator to verify that "External to External" call transfer is enabled for your extension.
