Issue
There is a red X over my volume mixer on my Dell Laptop/Computer
Resolution
Quick Tip: Make sure your computer is on the charger (if it is a laptop) and that it has a stable Internet connection.
1. If this is a device supported by Dell navigate to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us
- Once on the website, scroll down until you see a box titled "Diagnostics & Tools."
- Once clicked go to where it says "Run Quick Test" and click on that.
- Proceed further by clicking on "Download"
- After downloading the diagnostic it should start automatically. Please give it time to start the process. If it does not start click on "retry"
- This may take a few minutes. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
2. Once the Diagnostic has been completed you will then want to click on "Drivers & Downloads" Which is a header right next to Diagnostics
- Once that is clicked you will see a "Check for Updates" button. Click that to proceed.
- This will also take a few minutes, depending on how many updates it finds.
- Once Dell has pulled all of the updates you will want to click on "Show Drivers"
- There should be a driver related to audio on there. You may see additional drivers to download. Downloading these will also be beneficial for your device and could potentially prevent future issues.
- Click on "Download and Install" This will also take a few minutes to load.
- Once the downloads finish you should be able to adjust the volume on the volume mixer.
3. We recommend restarting your device to ensure all of the updates go through properly.
